US Vice President Kamala Harris expressed strong support for President Joe Biden's recent decision to withdraw from the 2024 election, calling it “one of the most courageous” moves any president could make. Speaking at an event in Las Vegas on Thursday, Harris emphasized that Biden's choice to prioritize the country over personal interests would be recognized by history as a significant act of leadership.
Harris made her comments in response to a voter who indicated a preference for Donald Trump and sought clarity regarding Biden's exit from the race. The voter questioned Harris about her nomination without facing a competitive primary, underscoring the heightened stakes in the current political landscape. “I believe that the stakes right now are extraordinarily high, and potentially, some might say, historians have said unprecedented,” she stated.

Biden officially ended his re-election bid on July 21, amid growing concerns from prominent Democratic officials and donors regarding his age and fitness for office. Following his withdrawal, he quickly endorsed Harris, who secured sufficient delegate support to claim the Democratic nomination.
In a recent interview, Harris remarked that there was “not a thing” she would have done differently than Biden in his presidency. This comment was later highlighted by Trump's campaign, which aims to position the former president as the candidate of change for the upcoming election.
Harris noted that Biden, who has not been making regular campaign appearances on her behalf, remains a crucial ally and supporter. She contrasted his decision to exit the race with Trump's refusal to concede the 2020 election. “We are literally having a choice as the American people about choosing a path either that is about rule of law, democracy or something that is about admiring dictators,” she asserted.
