Jay-Z Sues Former Accuser and Lawyer Over Sexual Assault Claims

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has filed a new lawsuit against lawyer Tony Buzbee, lawyer David Fortney, and their client, Jane Doe. This is about a sexual assault case that was dropped earlier. The lawsuit was filed on March 3, 2025, in Alabama.

In the new lawsuit, Jay-Z says the rape claims against him were false. He believes the case was made to hurt him. The original lawsuit, filed in October 2024, accused Jay-Z and rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl at an MTV party in 2000. But the lawsuit was thrown out in February 2025 by the lawyers.

Jay-Z says that the claims in the lawsuit were based on lies from Jane Doe and her lawyers. He believes they tried to make money by making up false stories. Jay-Z says Jane Doe later told his team that he never assaulted her. He also says lawyer Buzbee pushed Jane Doe to keep telling the lie in order to get money.

Jay-Z wants the court to hold Jane Doe responsible for lying about him. He wants to be paid for the damage these lies caused to his name.

In response, lawyer Buzbee said Jane Doe still stands by her story. He says the quotes in Jay-Z’s lawsuit are not true, or the lawyers spoke to someone who was not Jane Doe. He also said Jay-Z is trying to scare her, but they will keep fighting.

This new case follows another lawsuit Jay-Z filed in Los Angeles in December 2024. In that case, Jay-Z said lawyer Buzbee tried to extort him and caused him emotional harm. Jay-Z says these false accusations cost him work and caused stress for his family.

In February 2025, Jay-Z also said that Buzbee hurt him emotionally by filing the case right before his daughter’s movie premiere. Jay-Z felt he had to choose between supporting his daughter or hiding from the bad press. He and his wife, Beyoncé, went to the event with their daughter Blue Ivy and their twins, Rumi and Sir.

Jay-Z says he lost $20 million in contracts because of the false accusations. He also says he has been feeling upset and stressed ever since the lawsuit started.

The original lawsuit was dropped in February 2025, and it cannot be filed again. After it was dropped, Jay-Z said it was a win for him. He said the false claims caused pain for his wife and kids, and he was glad the case was over.

Now, Jay-Z wants to clear his name and hold the people who lied about him responsible.
