6 injured as IndiaOne Aircraft Crash-Lands Near Rourkela, Odisha

Rourkela, Odisha:

Six people, including the pilot and co-pilot, were injured after a nine-seater private aircraft operated by IndiaOne Airlines made an emergency landing near Rourkela on Saturday afternoon.

According to officials, the aircraft developed a technical snag shortly after take-off and was forced to land in farmland near Katibandha Kansara, close to Jalda, around 1:20–1:30 pm.

The aircraft, a single-engine Cessna Caravan 208 bearing registration VT-KSS, was flying from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela. It departed at 12:27 pm with two pilots and four passengers on board.

The Odisha government said the pilots acted swiftly and professionally after detecting the fault. They declared a Mayday call and carried out a controlled forced landing, helping save all lives on board.

“The pilots ensured a safe landing despite the emergency, due to which lives have been saved,” the state government said in an official statement.

IndiaOne Airlines confirmed that the aircraft flew only four to five kilometres before the issue occurred. The airline said it is working closely with aviation regulators and the Odisha government to assist passengers and crew.

All injured persons were rescued from the site and admitted to a local hospital in Rourkela. Their condition is reported to be stable.

Police, fire services, and senior officials, including the Rourkela Superintendent of Police, reached the spot soon after the incident. Due to aviation fuel leakage, the area was cordoned off as a safety precaution and public entry was restricted.
