His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, took part in a special ceremony held in Abu Mureikha, Abu Dhabi. This event was organised by the Ministry of Defence to honour the 49th year since the UAE Armed Forces were brought together under one command.

Speaking on this important day, Sheikh Hamdan said that the unification of the armed forces is a proud moment for every Emirati. It reminds people across the country of the great vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the efforts of the Founding Leaders. They built a strong base for the country, united the Emirates, and laid down values that still guide the UAE today.

Many high-level leaders joined the event, including:

  • Mohamed bin Mubarak bin Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs
  • Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces
  • Lieutenant General Ibrahim Nasser Al Alawi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence
  • Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police

During the ceremony, Sheikh Hamdan shared his warm wishes with:

The Rulers of all Emirates, Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers, citizens, and the brave men and women of the UAE Armed Forces

He said that the choice made on 6 May 1976 to join the armed forces under one flag made the nation’s military stronger. It helped build a united, skilled defence force that could keep the country safe and protect its progress.

Sheikh Hamdan also spoke about how, with the help of the country’s leaders, the armed forces have become better trained and better equipped. He said that the UAE keeps putting effort into bringing in modern defence tools and training its people well, so they are always ready for any new challenge.

The Ministry of Defence described this anniversary as a proud chapter in the story of the UAE. The move to unite the forces almost five decades ago helped the country grow stronger, both within the region and in the wider world. Today, the UAE Armed Forces are known for their discipline, skill, and courage.

The Ministry also remembered the country’s fallen heroes and thanked all those who serve in uniform. Whether they are protecting the nation at home or serving in missions abroad, their service is deeply valued.
