Hamas announced on Thursday that there is no need for additional ceasefire proposals for Gaza, urging that pressure should be directed at Israel to agree to a U.S. plan that the Islamist group has already accepted. The announcement came amid expectations that the United States would present a new truce proposal to resolve the ongoing deadlock between Hamas and Israel.
In a statement, Hamas criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of attempting to undermine the agreement by insisting on retaining control of the Philadelphi Corridor, a crucial area along the southern Gaza border. The corridor has been a major point of contention, with Israel demanding its control as part of any ceasefire arrangement.
Hamas warned against falling into what it described as Netanyahu's "trap and tricks," alleging that the Israeli leader is using negotiations to extend the military aggression against Palestinians. The group emphasized that the U.S. proposal, which was initially put forward on July 2, had already been accepted by Hamas, and the focus should now be on convincing Israel to agree to the terms.

The U.S. plan aims to break the current impasse by addressing key issues between the conflicting parties, but with the Israeli government maintaining its position on the Philadelphi Corridor, achieving a truce remains challenging. Hamas' statement highlights the continued friction and the complex nature of negotiations in the region.
The situation underscores the ongoing tension and the difficulty in reaching a resolution to the conflict, as both sides remain entrenched in their positions.
