Sheikh Mansoor Inaugurates UAE’s Most Futuristic School

Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, inaugurated the GEMS School of Research and Innovation (SRI) — a pioneering hub redefining the future of learning through AI, sustainability, and creativity.

Located in Dubai Sports City and spanning 47,600 square metres, SRI offers an AI-powered learning environment built to inspire innovation and exploration. During his visit, Sheikh Mansoor toured the advanced facilities designed to nurture a generation ready to lead with creativity and purpose.

At the core of the campus stands the Research Hub, a three-storey vertical learning space that replaces the traditional library with a dynamic centre for research and collaboration. It connects students of all ages through robotics labs, Extended Reality studios, 360° digital lounges, and innovation zones — all built to spark curiosity and critical thinking.

The school features the UAE’s first fully AI-integrated ecosystem, where every teacher is equipped with AI-enabled tools to personalise learning and enhance classroom creativity. Students engage with humanoid and quadruped robots, and take part in the region’s first Esports and Game Design Academy. From engineering labs with Formula 1 and karting simulators to the futuristic FoodTec Lab using hydroponics and 3D food printing, the focus is on hands-on, real-world learning.

Sustainability runs through every aspect of the LEED Gold-certified campus. Around 30% of its power is generated from solar energy, while rainwater harvesting, smart lighting systems, and hydroponic gardens turn eco-consciousness into daily practice.

Beyond technology, SRI nurtures holistic growth. With an Olympic-size swimming pool, FIFA-certified football pitch, athletics track, and professional music and media studios, the school blends academic excellence with physical and creative development. Its All-Steinway Premier Music Academy and industry-grade Media Suite enable students to produce news broadcasts, podcasts, and performances to professional standards.

Through partnerships with global innovators such as Microsoft, HP, KUKA Robotics, Kawasaki Robotics, and EON Reality, the GEMS School of Research and Innovation stands as a bold step toward Dubai’s vision of future-ready education.
