The Family Care Authority (FCA) and the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA) worked together on a year-long project to host events inspired by nature for the community. This partnership started after FCA and UICCA signed an agreement at COP28.

The events were designed to bring the Abu Dhabi community closer to nature, helping people improve their mental health and build stronger social connections. This partnership was the first of its kind, showing how nature can help people feel better and connect with others.
Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President and CEO of UICCA, said that nature can help people find their purpose and inspire creativity. She added, “Our partnership with FCA shows how nature helps people grow, take care of the environment, and live sustainably. Through these events, we want to inspire people to connect with nature and each other.”
Her Excellency Salama Al Ameemi, Director-General of FCA, said that the FCA’s goal is to help families by offering services that help them stay strong and happy. She talked about how the partnership with UICCA used Abu Dhabi’s natural beauty to help families feel better. She said, “These activities helped people reconnect with nature and heal. They also helped everyone, including families facing problems, join in and enjoy nature. Our work is part of the Abu Dhabi Wellbeing Strategy to make life better for families in our community.”
Over the year, there were four special events focused on nature’s power to heal. The first event, Suhoor Under the Stars, took place in Al Ain at Qasr Al Muwaiji during Ramadan. The event, hosted by Emirati Chef Aysha Al AlObeidli, taught people about the benefits of local food for health, the environment, and the economy.
The second event, Room to Bloom, was led by Amna Al Shamsi, an Emirati gardening expert, at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation. In this event, people learned how to grow plants and take care of them, which helped them feel more connected to nature.
The third event, Urban Forest Therapy, was held at Al Fay Park in Abu Dhabi and was led by Emirati artist Faris Al Hammadi. In this workshop, people, including seniors and young volunteers, painted while enjoying the peaceful green space, which helped them feel calm and connected to nature.
The last event, Desert Stargazing, took place at Pura Eco Retreat at Jebel Hafit in Al Ain. Led by Emirati Meshal Al Mutairi from the Emirates Astronomical Observatory, participants learned about stars, stories, and poetry while enjoying the desert landscape.
These events showed how nature can help people feel better and connect with each other. The partnership between FCA and UICCA helped people live more sustainably and focus on their health.
