Emirates & Ritz-Carlton Launch World’s First Luxury Lodge in NSW

Emirates and Marriott International have joined forces to open Emirates Wolgan Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Lodge, the world’s first Ritz-Carlton Lodge, in Australia’s Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage area. Set on a 7,000-acre conservation reserve, the 40-key all-inclusive luxury lodge is expected to open in mid-2026, offering a new benchmark for high-end nature-based travel.

The lodge will occupy less than 2% of the reserve, ensuring privacy and a deep connection with nature. Guests will experience rare flora and fauna, including the ancient Wollemi Pine, kangaroos, wombats, and wallabies, under some of the world’s clearest night skies.

Since 2006, Emirates has invested AU$150 million in developing the Wolgan Valley Resort, focusing on heritage restoration and conservation, including planting over one million native trees. An additional AU$50 million is now being invested in transforming the property into a world-class Ritz-Carlton Lodge.

The lodge will offer 40 luxury lodges with private pools, a signature restaurant, lounge bar, wine room, outdoor pool, tennis courts, equestrian stables, fitness center, and The Ritz-Carlton Spa. A unique sleep-out experience will allow guests to spend a night in the wilderness under the stars, complete with a guided outdoor dinner and campfire.

Access to the resort will be via four-wheel drive along Donkey Steps or helicopter, adding to the adventure. The lodge is expected to create around 150 local jobs and support local suppliers, boosting the regional economy.

Sir Tim Clark, Emirates President, said the lodge reflects the airline’s commitment to luxury travel and community development. Rajeev Menon, Marriott International Asia Pacific President, highlighted that the lodge marks Ritz-Carlton’s global lodge debut and will appeal to luxury travelers seeking immersive, nature-based experiences.

The lodge will complement Ritz-Carlton’s existing hotels in Perth and Melbourne, reinforcing Australia’s position as a top luxury tourism destination.
