Emirates, which is the world’s biggest international airline, has decided to launch a third daily flight to the beautiful island country of Mauritius. This new service will start from 1 December. The airline made this announcement to support and grow tourism in Mauritius, which is famous for its beautiful beaches, luxury resorts, and peaceful environment.
What Does This New Flight Mean for Travellers?
The new flight will be operated using Emirates’ Boeing 777 aircraft. This third flight will be in addition to the two flights that Emirates already operates daily to Mauritius on its huge A380 aircraft. Emirates has named this new flight EK709/710.
This means that travellers now have three choices every day if they wish to travel from Dubai to Mauritius or come back from Mauritius to Dubai. This will make it easier for people from the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas to visit the island without any trouble in finding a flight that suits their timing.

Why is Mauritius Popular?
Mauritius is known for its white sandy beaches, clear blue waters, and luxury hotels. Many tourists from around the world visit Mauritius to relax, go on their honeymoon, or enjoy family vacations. Emirates wants to make sure that more people can visit this lovely destination without facing any problems with flight availability.
Flight Timings for the New Service
The new flight, EK709, will leave Dubai every day at 6:55 in the morning and will reach Mauritius at 1:40 in the afternoon, local time. The return flight, EK710, will leave Mauritius at 6:30 in the evening and will arrive in Dubai at 1:10 in the morning the next day. All times mentioned are local for Dubai and Mauritius.
Where Can Passengers Book Their Tickets?
People can book their tickets for this third flight right away. Tickets are available on the Emirates website, the Emirates App, at their retail stores, by calling Emirates contact centres, or by booking through travel agents.
Emirates’ Deputy President Speaks on This Expansion
Adnan Kazim, who is Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, thanked the authorities in Mauritius for allowing this additional flight. He said that Emirates has been flying to Mauritius since 2002 and their two daily A380 flights have helped the country’s tourism industry to grow a lot.
He also mentioned that the new Boeing 777 flight will increase the number of seats available on this route by more than 30%. This means more tourists and business travellers can travel to Mauritius easily.
Working Together with Air Mauritius
Emirates is working closely with Air Mauritius for this new flight under a codeshare partnership. This means that both airlines will sell seats on this flight, making it easier for travellers to find tickets. They will also work together to promote Mauritius in different parts of the world to attract more tourists.
Connecting More Markets to Mauritius
This third flight will help travellers from Far East countries such as Japan, China, Malaysia, and Hong Kong to reach Mauritius with easy connections. Emirates wants to promote Mauritius in these countries to encourage people to visit the island for their holidays.
How Has Emirates Helped Mauritius Till Now?
Since Emirates started flying to Mauritius in 2002, it has carried more than 8.8 million passengers on this route. It has also transported over 126,000 tonnes of cargo to and from Mauritius. The airline has added a lot to Mauritius’ economy. For example:
Emirates flights directly added USD 119 million to the economy.
Tourists who flew on Emirates spent about USD 264 million in Mauritius.
Overall, Emirates’ operations have contributed about USD 530 million to the economy through tourism-related spending.
Creating Jobs and Opportunities
Because of Emirates’ operations, around 3,600 jobs have been created in Mauritius. Also, many Mauritian people work for Emirates as pilots, cabin crew, engineers, customer service staff, and in office roles. This has helped them build successful careers with an international airline.
Partnerships to Promote Mauritius
Emirates has been working with Air Mauritius since 2003. They also work closely with Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) since 2012 to promote the country as a beautiful travel destination. Together, they create marketing plans and organise events to show people around the world why they should visit Mauritius.
Current Flights to Mauritius
At present, Emirates operates two daily flights to Mauritius using its largest aircraft, the A380. This means there are already 14 flights every week, offering over 15,000 seats in total. Emirates is the only airline that uses the double-decker A380 aircraft to fly to Mauritius. It is also the only airline that offers First Class seats on flights to Mauritius, which is liked by travellers who prefer luxury.
How Does This Help Tourism and Economy?
This new third flight will support Mauritius’ tourism sector, which is a major part of its economy. More flights mean more tourists, which means more people staying in hotels, eating at restaurants, shopping, and taking part in local activities. This helps the local businesses and people to earn more and live better lives.
Why is Emirates Adding This Flight Now?
The demand for travel to Mauritius is increasing as people want to visit tropical destinations after the pandemic. Emirates wants to make sure that there are enough flights to carry all travellers comfortably and give them good timings that suit their plans. Adding a third daily flight also shows how confident Emirates is about Mauritius’ tourism growth.
Adnan Kazim said that Emirates is happy to add this new flight and will continue to support Mauritius’ growth. He also appreciated Air Mauritius for working together as partners and making it easier for global travellers to visit Mauritius without any problems.
