Entrepreneur Middle East has shared a special report called ‘Dubai’s Green Future: Powered by Renewable Energy.’ This report, made with the help of Lucidity Insights, explains how Dubai is working hard to stop carbon pollution and become net zero by 2050. The city is spending a lot of money on clean energy to make this happen.
The report discusses Dubai’s plans, ideas, and big projects to help the city use more clean energy. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) leads these efforts by making smart plans and working on important projects.
Dubai has two main plans: the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. These plans aim to make all energy in Dubai come from clean and green sources by the year 2050. Dubai is using new technologies and good ideas to cut down pollution and make the city cleaner. Dubai is already ahead of its goals. In 2020, it aimed to have 7% of its energy from clean sources, but it reached 8.2%. By 2023, it doubled this to 16.1%.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, who is the boss of DEWA, said Dubai’s work is part of the UAE’s big goals to protect the environment. He said that under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai is setting an example for others to follow. He also said Dubai’s plans are creating a bright future for everyone.
The report talks about the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, one of Dubai’s most important projects. This solar park is the biggest in the world built in one place. By 2030, it will produce enough clean energy to power 1.5 million homes. Right now, the solar park produces 2,860 MW of energy, which is about 17% of Dubai’s total power. This solar park has also broken world records, like having the tallest solar power tower and the biggest thermal energy storage system.
The report also highlights DEWA’s Green Hydrogen project. This is the first project of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa. It helps the UAE work toward its goal of producing 1.4 million tonnes of hydrogen by 2031 and 15 million tonnes by 2050. Hydrogen is seen as an important fuel for the future that can help reduce pollution.
Dubai is also building a special power plant in Hatta. This is the first pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant in the region. This plant will store energy and provide enough power for 60,000 homes every year.
Dubai is showing the world how a city can grow and protect the planet at the same time. Through big projects and strong ideas, Dubai is creating a cleaner and greener future that will help not just the city but also inspire others around the world.
