Dubai–Iran Flights Cancelled Amid Iran Unrest, Travel Hit

Dubai: At least six flights scheduled for Friday between Dubai and several Iranian cities were cancelled, according to information available on the Dubai Airports website. The cancellations have added to growing disruption in regional air travel linked to ongoing unrest in Iran.

As reported by Al Khaleej newspaper, the cancelled flights included routes connecting Dubai with Tehran, Shiraz and Mashhad — three of Iran’s major aviation hubs. No official reason was given for the cancellations, and there was no immediate information on whether alternative arrangements were offered to affected passengers.

The disruption was not limited to the UAE. In Turkey, Turkish Airlines cancelled all five of its scheduled Friday flights to Tehran, according to data from the Istanbul Airport mobile application. The same source showed that five additional flights operated by Iranian airlines were also cancelled, while seven other flights to Tehran remained on schedule.

Turkish authorities have not issued any public statement regarding the cancellations or the situation in Iran. The flight disruptions come as Iran faces widespread protests over rising living costs, posing a major challenge to the authorities led by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran is currently dealing with a deep economic crisis caused by years of international sanctions, further worsened by the impact of the June conflict with Israel.
