Ronaldo got his big chance when in 2003 he signed with Manchester United, one of the top football clubs globally. Still only 18 years old, there was no way that Cristiano Ronaldo couldn't impress Sir Alex Ferguson, the then manager of Manchester United. Ronaldo was given the chance to play in the famous English Premier League.
At first, it wasn't so easy for Ronaldo. The Premier League was much tougher than he was used to, but his talent was hard to ignore. Ronaldo worked hard to improve his game with the help of Sir Alex Ferguson and became one of the best footballers in the world. In 2007, he won the Premier League with Manchester United. He played an important role for his team to win the UEFA Champions League in 2008.
In 2008, Ronaldo was awarded the Ballon d'Or, regarded as the world's best footballer. The player was famous for his pace, ball control, and goal-scoring abilities. Fans and players alike were fanatics of his play.
He signed for Real Madrid in 2009 on a world record transfer fee worth €94 million and marked a new, even bigger chapter of his life. He became Real Madrid's record goal scorer at the end and spent nine successive years there winning many titles which included numerous titles of La Liga and Champions League.
His games were incredible performances because Ronaldo became the first person to reach over 100 goals in the Champions League. When Ronaldo, at 33 years old, joined the Juventus side, one of the greatest Italian football clubs, in 2018, he took another great stride. Many thought that Ronaldo had crossed the age barrier from where he would not be able to perform to his maximum potential again. However, Ronaldo proved everyone wrong. During his first season at Juventus, he supported his team in winning the Serie A title; it was the eighth title in succession.
However, Ronaldo is back to Manchester United since 2021. He began there. Everyone in the club wanted him to be back; with his experience, he added enormous value to them, and the way he performs at present in top levels of the game today.
It was not only successful at the club level. He also featured for the international national football teams. Ronaldo started his play for the national team for Portugal in 2003, and he rose to be the star man of the national team. In the year 2016, Ronaldo and Portugal win the first major trophy ever since when they claimed the UEFA European Championship.
In 2019, he made Portugal win the UEFA Nations League again, proving that he is not only a legend at the club level but also on the international pitch. His success with Portugal made him a national hero and inspiration for many Portuguese young players around the globe.
