A magnificent classical concert, paying tribute to feminine beauty, took place at the Magtymguly National Musical Drama Theater in Ashgabat. The evening featured the distinguished French pianist Christine Fonlupt, accompanied by the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan, led by Resul Gylyjov.
This event highlighted French compositions from the 19th and 20th centuries, focusing on works that celebrate women. The performance created an enchanting ambiance filled with elegance and artistic expression.
Standout moments included Claude Debussy’s “Arabesque No. 1,” which whisked the audience into a dreamlike state. Fonlupt also played the iconic “Clair de Lune,” which beautifully illustrated feminine grace illuminated by moonlight.
The repertoire encompassed pieces by Georges Bizet, alongside works from renowned female composers such as Cecile Chaminade, who’s “Terpsichore” received an enthusiastic applause.
Furthermore, the concert featured pieces by Mel Bonis, capturing the essence of legendary female characters such as Desdemona and Ophelia, enhancing the evening’s storytelling prowess.
The audience’s warm response culminated in an encore of “Black Earth” by Fazil Say, sealing a memorable experience for those present.
During a post-concert press conference, Christine Fonlupt expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the cultural richness of Turkmenistan, commending the audience and musicians while recalling her visit as incredibly impactful.
