Bangladesh to Play 2 T20Is Against UAE in Sharjah in May

Bangladesh’s national cricket team will play two T20 International matches against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this month. The Emirates Cricket Board shared this news on Friday, May 2. These matches will take place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on May 17 and May 19. Both games will begin at 7:00 PM local time.

After playing this short series in the UAE, Bangladesh will travel to Pakistan for another tour where they will play five more T20 matches.

This is not the first time the two teams are facing each other in a series. Bangladesh and UAE also played two T20 matches in Dubai in September 2022. So, this will be their second T20 series in the past three years.

Subhan Ahmad, the Chief Operating Officer of the Emirates Cricket Board, said they are happy to host Bangladesh again. He mentioned that the Emirates Cricket Board always tries to give the UAE national team a chance to play against strong teams.

“In the past three years, we have hosted top teams like New Zealand, West Indies, and Afghanistan. This is Bangladesh’s second T20 tour to the UAE in three years,” said Ahmad. “These two matches will help our team get ready for the upcoming ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup. We thank the Bangladesh Cricket Board for working with us. Sharjah Cricket Stadium is a great place for T20 matches, and we are excited to host two fun games there,” he added.

Nizamuddin Chowdhury, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, also shared his thoughts. He said the board is happy to send the national team to UAE again. According to him, this series is a good chance for Bangladesh to get ready for their busy schedule ahead.

“We are happy that the national team is going back to the UAE. These matches are important for our players to prepare for the busy months ahead, especially the upcoming Asia Cup,” said Nizam. “We thank the Emirates Cricket Board for making this series possible. It will help both teams and bring joy to cricket fans. We hope it will also make the bond between our two cricket boards stronger.”

In short, cricket fans can look forward to two exciting matches between Bangladesh and UAE on May 17 and 19, just before Bangladesh heads to Pakistan for more T20 action.
