Bajaj Finance Stock Split & Bonus 2025: Record Date, Share Impact Explained

Bajaj Finance shares saw a strong jump in price during Monday’s trading session after the company fixed the record date for a big stock split and bonus share issue. At 10:40 am, Bajaj Finance shares were trading at ₹9,739 each on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). This was higher than the previous close of ₹9,371.50 on Friday.

What Did Bajaj Finance Announce?
On June 6, Bajaj Finance said that Monday, June 16, 2025, will be the record date for two important things:

A 1:2 stock split

A 4:1 bonus share issue

This means, if you want to get the benefit of these changes, you must own Bajaj Finance shares by the end of trading on Friday, June 13, 2025.

What is a Stock Split?
A stock split is when a company divides each of its existing shares into more shares. Bajaj Finance is splitting each share with a face value of ₹2 into two shares with a face value of ₹1 each. So, you will have twice as many shares as before, but each share will have half the face value. The total value of your investment does not change right away, but the price per share will adjust.

What is a Bonus Share Issue?
A bonus share issue is when a company gives extra shares to its current shareholders for free. Bajaj Finance is giving four bonus shares for every one share you own (after the split). So, if you have 1 share, you will get 4 more, making it 5 shares in total.

Example: How Many Shares Will You Have?
Let’s say you own 50 shares of Bajaj Finance on the record date:

First, you get 4 bonus shares for every 1 share you own: 50 x 4 = 200 bonus shares.

Now you have 50 (original) + 200 (bonus) = 250 shares.

Next, all these shares will be split 1:2, so your 250 shares become 500 shares.

So, if you had 50 shares before, you will have 500 shares after the bonus issue and stock split are completed.

Why Did the Share Price Go Up?
Investors often get excited about stock splits and bonus issues because they can make shares more affordable and increase liquidity. After Bajaj Finance announced the record date, the share price rose by almost 4% and hit a new high.

Company Performance
Bajaj Finance has been doing well. In the March quarter, its net profit went up 19% year-on-year to ₹4,545.6 crore. Its assets under management (AUM) grew by 26% to ₹4.17 lakh crore as of March 31, 2025. The company also declared a final dividend of ₹44 per share for the financial year 2024–25.
