Andhra Pradesh Earthquake: 3.7 Magnitude Tremor Jolts Alluri Sitarama Raju

A mild earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale struck Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitharama Raju district early Tuesday morning, sending brief tremors across nearby Visakhapatnam. The quake occurred at 4:19 am at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers, according to the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA).

Officials confirmed there were no reports of casualties or property damage. However, local authorities issued precautionary alerts to residents in the affected areas as a safety measure.

The earthquake’s epicentre was pinpointed at latitude 18.02°N and longitude 82.58°E. “A mild earthquake was recorded in Alluri Sitharama Raju district, while tremors were felt in parts of Vizag,” said an APSDMA official.

Residents reported feeling slight vibrations for a few seconds, but normalcy was quickly restored. Disaster management teams in both districts were put on standby to respond if needed.

Experts said the tremor was minor and consistent with the region’s moderate seismic activity zone. Officials reassured that there was no threat of aftershocks or further disturbances.

Authorities urged residents to stay calm and follow safety guidelines in case of any future tremors.
