Afghan Taliban Launch Retaliatory Strikes Against Pakistan Forces

The Afghan Taliban has carried out attacks on several places in Pakistan, said Afghanistan’s defense ministry. This came after Pakistan's planes dropped bombs inside Afghanistan earlier this week. The Afghan statement did not directly mention Pakistan but said the attacks were made "beyond the hypothetical line." This line refers to the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, which has been a source of disagreement for a long time.

Afghanistan does not accept this border, called the Durand Line, which was made by the British in the 1800s. Afghan leaders say it’s not a valid border. The Taliban attacked places where groups that plan attacks on Afghanistan are believed to hide, according to the Afghan ministry. These groups were called "dangerous groups" by the ministry.

Enayatullah Khowarazmi, a spokesman for Afghanistan Ministry of Defense, said they didn’t think the areas were in Pakistan, so they wouldn’t confirm the exact location. He mentioned the strikes happened on the other side of the "hypothetical line." No details about any deaths or which areas were attacked have been shared by Afghanistan.

Pakistan said earlier that it attacked hideouts of militants along the border. These militants were blamed for attacks inside Pakistan. Afghanistan had warned that it would take action if civilians were hurt by the airstrikes.

Afghanistan and Pakistan have had a bad relationship for many years. Pakistan says that militants use Afghanistan’s land to attack Pakistan, but the Taliban in Afghanistan denies this. This makes it harder for the two countries to get along and work together.
