Abu Dhabi: ADQ, one of the region’s leading investment companies, in collaboration with the National Basketball Association (NBA), has inaugurated two newly refurbished public basketball courts in the heart of Abu Dhabi. The initiative is part of ADQ’s ongoing efforts to promote active living and strengthen community engagement through world-class sports facilities.
The new courts, located at Capital Garden, follow the success of the first refurbished site at Zayed Sports City. These modern, accessible spaces aim to encourage residents of all ages to stay active, socialize, and develop a passion for basketball. ADQ confirmed that additional courts are planned in both Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain Region, expanding opportunities for communities to connect through sport.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Anas Jawdat Albarguthi, Group Chief Operating Officer of ADQ, and David Watts, NBA Head of the Middle East. A ribbon-cutting marked the official opening, followed by energetic NBA Fit clinics featuring young players from the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Abu Dhabi League. The interactive sessions brought the courts to life, inspiring young athletes to embrace fitness and teamwork.
The launch coincided with the week of The NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2025, presented by ADQ, where the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers showcased world-class basketball talent. The timing further highlighted the partnership’s goal of celebrating sport, inspiring communities, and nurturing the next generation of athletes across the UAE.
With these new facilities, ADQ continues to invest in initiatives that support healthier lifestyles and strengthen the social fabric of Abu Dhabi, reinforcing the emirate’s growing reputation as a vibrant hub for global sports and community well-being.
