On Saturday evening, a tragic incident unfolded at the Elks Lodge in Apache Junction, Arizona, where a 73-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the building, injuring approximately 30 individuals. The driver, identified as Thomas Edward Kain, has been arrested, with preliminary investigations suggesting that alcohol played a significant role in the crash.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a chaotic situation, with 10 individuals being transported to local hospitals. Among them, one person is reported to be in critical but stable condition. In addition to those hospitalized, 15 people received treatment for minor injuries at the scene, and another 5 opted to seek further medical evaluation on their own.
The Apache Junction Police Department has highlighted the dangers of impaired driving, noting that it severely affects reaction times and decision-making abilities, leading to accidents like this one. Although no fatalities were reported, the injuries varied in severity.

Kain remains in custody in Pinal County, with court records not yet available as of Sunday. Efforts to contact him have been unsuccessful.
The Elks Lodge responded to the incident with a statement on Facebook, offering condolences to those affected and providing a crisis support hotline for further assistance. The lodge expressed their deep sympathy and support in light of the unfortunate event.
Authorities have emphasized the serious consequences of driving under the influence, urging the public to consider the broader impact such actions can have on both the driver and the community.
