Three women from Gujarat, India, tragically lost their lives in a devastating car accident in the United States. Rekhaben Patel, Sangitaben Patel, and Manishaben Patel, all residents of Gujarat's Anand district, were involved in the fatal incident. They were traveling in an SUV in Greenville County, South Carolina, when the vehicle veered off the road and plummeted over a bridge.
Reports from the Greenville County Coroner's Office provide further details of the harrowing event. The SUV, navigating northbound on I-85, suddenly crossed all lanes, ascended an embankment, and soared at least 20 feet into the air before colliding with trees on the opposite side of the bridge. Chief Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis, in an interview with news channel WSPA, remarked that the vehicle was evidently traveling at a speed above the posted limit.
Remarkably, no other vehicles were involved in the tragic accident. The SUV was found wedged against a tree, its structure shattered into multiple pieces due to the impact of the collision.
Chief Deputy Coroner Ellis expressed astonishment at the magnitude of the crash, stating, "Very seldom do you see a vehicle that leaves the roadway at such a high rate of speed that it jumps 4-6 lanes of traffic and lands in the trees approximately 20 feet." The severity of the incident underscores the tragic loss experienced by the families and communities of the victims.
