The World Association of Kickboxing Organisations (WAKO), in collaboration with the UAE Muaythai and Kickboxing Federation (UAEMKFED), has announced the World Kickboxing Championship Seniors and Masters in Abu Dhabi.
The championship will take place from 21st to 30th November 2025 at ADNEC Arena, marking the first time in history the event is held outside Europe. This positions Abu Dhabi as a global hub for martial arts and a destination for the world’s top kickboxing talent.
The event will bring together over 2,000 athletes from 150 countries, making it the largest and most inclusive kickboxing championship ever staged. Competitions will span both Tatami and Ring disciplines, including Masters and Para-Kickboxing categories, showcasing a diverse range of talent and skill levels.
The championship will run for nine days, featuring daily qualifications, semi-finals, and finals, culminating in the Grand Finals and Awarding Ceremonies on 28th and 29th November, with delegations departing on 30th November.
The Opening Ceremony will be held on Sunday, 23rd November 2025, at 17:00 at ADNEC Arena. The ceremony will welcome global delegations and dignitaries, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to advancing combat sports internationally.
The event promises to combine cultural displays, entertainment, and martial arts demonstrations, creating a grand spectacle for participants and spectators alike.
Athletes will compete across multiple disciplines and categories during the championship. Both Tatami (point-based fighting) and Ring (full-contact) competitions will take place, offering opportunities for competitors of different styles and experiences to showcase their abilities.
The Masters and Para-Kickboxing divisions highlight the event’s inclusivity, celebrating athletes of all ages and abilities while promoting fairness and sportsmanship.
Ali Khouri, Board Member of UAEMKFED and Executive Board Member of WAKO, emphasized the importance of the championship for Abu Dhabi and the UAE. He stated, “The World Kickboxing Championship in Abu Dhabi marks a new milestone in the UAE’s success in hosting global sporting events. This edition will be a defining chapter in kickboxing history.”
Khouri added that the event reflects the UAE’s commitment to peace, unity, and cross-cultural understanding through sport and showcases Abu Dhabi’s capabilities as a world-class host city.
The 2025 championship is expected to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a premier destination for international martial arts competitions. By bringing together athletes from 150 countries, the event promotes friendship, cultural exchange, and professional development in the sport of kickboxing.
Participants and spectators can expect a world-class sporting experience, highlighting both high-level competition and the UAE’s dedication to innovation and excellence in event management.
