The World Green Economy Summit (WGES), held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, continues to bolster the UAE’s leadership in global climate action and its proactive stance on environmental challenges. Organized by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), the summit convenes experts, scholars, and leaders to foster sustainable development dialogues.

Under the theme "Empowering Global Action: Unlocking Opportunities and Advancing Progress," the upcoming October 2-3 summit at Dubai World Trade Centre aims to promote international cooperation across governments, private sectors, and civil society. It seeks innovative green solutions and strategies to protect natural resources and mitigate climate impacts.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and CEO of DEWA, highlighted WGES as pivotal in advancing the UAE’s green agenda. The summit builds on the outcomes of COP28 hosted in Dubai, which catalyzed the 'UAE Consensus' and launched the USD 30 billion Alterra Fund to mobilize climate finance. This fund aims to leverage up to USD 250 billion by 2030, supporting climate initiatives globally.

Aligned with UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy and Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050, WGES 2024 will focus on themes such as decarbonization, clean energy innovations, climate finance, circular economy, regulatory frameworks, technological solutions, youth engagement in climate action, and sustainable food and water practices.

The summit underscores UAE’s commitment to sustainable development and global climate leadership, reinforcing its role in shaping a resilient, green future.
