German newspaper Bild reports that the attacker is believed to be a German national who may have been experiencing mental health issues and possibly under the influence of drugs. Police have stated that there is no indication of terrorism being involved in the attack.

This incident follows a similar violent event earlier in the week. In Solingen, a Syrian man admitted to stabbing three people to death and injuring several others at a festival. The victims included two men aged 67 and 56, and a 56-year-old woman. This attack shocked Germany and sparked calls from opposition parties for stricter immigration laws. The suspect, who is 26 years old, has been accused by German prosecutors of being affiliated with ISIS. The terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack through its Amaq news agency, though it has not provided evidence to support this claim. Prosecutors have stated that the suspect’s radical Islamist beliefs motivated him to commit the attack in an attempt to kill as many people as possible.
