Drivers in Dubai should be ready for road closures this weekend as the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge takes place on Saturday and Sunday, February 22 and 23. Several key roads will be closed for a few hours each day to make way for the cycling event.
On Saturday, February 22, from 6:15 AM to 9:30 AM, access to Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street from Expo City Dubai will be blocked. This will impact areas like Tilal Al Ghaf, so residents and motorists should plan their routes accordingly.
The main race on Sunday, February 23, which covers a 92 km route, will cause more road closures. Between 6:10 AM and 8:22 AM, roads such as Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, Al Qudra Road, and Umm Suqeim will be closed. This will affect neighborhoods including Al Reem, Damac Hills, Mira, Town Square, Arabian Ranches, and Sustainable City.

More roads will be shut down from 6:22 AM to 8:22 AM, affecting areas around Global Village, The Villa, and Cityland Mall. Hessa Street will also be closed from 6:50 AM to 8:40 AM, which will impact people living in Studio City and Motor City.
Another round of closures will happen between 7:25 AM and 9:50 AM, affecting places like Jumeirah Golf Estates, Al Barsha, and Jumeirah Village Circle. Al Asayel Street will also be closed from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM, causing disruptions for people in The Springs, Emirates Hills, Jumeirah Islands, Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT), and The Meadows.
Authorities have advised drivers to plan their routes carefully, as the last race cut-off is set for 9:45 AM at Hessa Street towards Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road. The cycling course will start and finish at Al Forsan Park in Expo City Dubai, passing through several major residential areas along the way.
With thousands of cyclists taking part in the event, traffic officials recommend using alternative routes and leaving extra time for travel to avoid delays. The Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge has been held every year since 2010 and attracts over 2,000 cyclists from different countries.
Residents and commuters are encouraged to stay updated on road conditions and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the race weekend.
