The UAE government has announced that there will be at least 12 public holidays in 2025. The exact dates depend on the sighting of the moon, which is important for some holidays.
There are still about nine more holidays to come this year, and many people want to know: “What is the next public holiday in Dubai?”
Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming public holiday in the UAE.
When is the next UAE public holiday in 2025?
After Eid Al Adha in early June, the next holiday will be the Islamic New Year.
Based on current moon and star observations, the Islamic New Year is expected to be on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in the UAE. This means it will fall right in the middle of the workweek in Dubai.

However, if the month of Dhu Al Hijjah (the last month of the Islamic calendar) lasts for 30 days instead of 29, then the holiday will be on Friday, June 27, 2025.
This date is part of the official list of public holidays in the UAE for 2025. On this day, both private and government workers will get a day off.
The Islamic New Year is based on the Hijri calendar, which follows the moon’s cycle. Because of this, the exact date is confirmed only when the moon is sighted close to the time of the holiday.
The Islamic New Year marks the first day of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic calendar, and the start of the year 1447.
Whether the holiday is on June 26 or June 27 depends on how many days the month of Dhu Al Hijjah has—29 days or 30 days.
In 2025, there is a new rule that if a public holiday falls on a weekend, the holiday can be moved to the beginning of the next week. This rule is found in the UAE Official Gazette. However, this rule does not apply to Eid Al Fitr or Eid Al Adha.
