The Walk 1000 challenge has reached an important moment as the walkers have finished 500 kilometers—half of their journey. Each walker has taken more than 625,000 steps, walked for over 90 hours, and drank more than 120 liters of water so far.
This challenge started on 2 November 2024 and lasted for 30 days. There are ten walkers taking part, and they are helping spread the message of Active Abu Dhabi. This program is supported by Emirates Foundation, PureHealth, and Mubadala. The goal is to show how important it is to stay fit and healthy and to get people moving every day.

The walkers are passing through more than 30 special places in Abu Dhabi. These include the Baynunah Houbara Reserve and the Al Sadeem Observatory. The route shows Abu Dhabi’s history, culture, and nature while also teaching people about health and fitness.
This weekend, Active Abu Dhabi is inviting everyone to join the Walk 1000 team for part of their journey. The public walk will happen on 24 November 2024, at 7:00 am, starting at Mbazzarah Al Khadra in Al Ain. Anyone can sign up to walk and enjoy being part of this exciting challenge.
If people can’t join the event, they can still take part online using the Pura app. They can set a goal to walk 6,000 steps every day. The challenge also reminds people that walking for just 150 minutes a week can help them stay healthy and happy.
The Walk 1000 challenge is not just about walking. It is about inspiring everyone to live a healthier life and enjoy the beauty of Abu Dhabi. With two weeks left to finish the challenge, the walkers continue to motivate others to be active and stay strong.
