Vivek Ramaswamy: US Needs a "Badass Commander-In-Chief" After Trump's Win

Vivek Ramaswamy, entrepreneur-turned-politician, expressed strong support for Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election, describing it as a powerful symbol of the "American comeback." Speaking on the significance of Trump’s win, Ramaswamy emphasized that the country needed a "badass commander-in-chief," and in his view, that is exactly what America received with Trump’s return to the White House.

Trump, 78, secured a decisive victory on November 5, winning both the popular vote and the electoral college by a wide margin. He also helped the Republican Party gain control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, further solidifying his political influence. Ramaswamy highlighted this achievement, pointing to Trump’s ability to withstand numerous challenges, including attempts to disqualify him, imprison him, and even eliminate him politically—none of which succeeded.

In his comments, Ramaswamy stressed that Trump’s success wasn’t due to traditional political strategies. "He’s not an ideologue. He’s not a policy wonk. He’s an American badass," he said. He continued, noting that despite the media's repeated attempts to discredit Trump, the former president remained unwavering. "None of it worked. Our self-appointed 'betters' in the media misunderstood him, underestimated him, doubted him," Ramaswamy added.

Ramaswamy praised Trump’s confidence and determination throughout the campaign, recalling how, even as celebrations erupted at Mar-a-Lago, Trump stood unfazed and fully assured that he was exactly where he was meant to be. "Not once during this campaign did Trump misunderstand, underestimate, or doubt himself," he said.

The former Republican presidential candidate also drew a parallel between Trump’s journey and that of the United States itself, highlighting America’s exceptionalism. "We’ve always believed it was our manifest destiny to be exceptional, to be the greatest nation on Earth, to show the world what’s possible for humanity to achieve, even when other countries doubted us," Ramaswamy remarked.

He concluded by reinforcing the idea that Trump’s victory was emblematic of a broader national resurgence. "Trump's comeback is the American comeback. Our nation deserves a badass commander-in-chief right now and that’s exactly what we got," Ramaswamy stated, adding, "Funny how well our democracy actually works."
