Brussels witnessed one of the largest Iranian diaspora demonstrations ever held in Europe, as more than 100,000 Iranians and supporters gathered near European Union institutions to protest repression in Iran.
Demonstrators travelled from Belgium, Germany, France and the Netherlands, waving Iranian flags and holding photos of victims from recent unrest. Chants against Iran’s ruling clerics echoed through the streets, while protesters urged European governments to increase international pressure on Tehran.
The rally comes amid reports of an intensified crackdown inside Iran, including mass arrests, internet shutdowns and the use of lethal force against protesters in multiple cities. Activists said the Brussels turnout was aimed at pushing European leaders to confront the scale of the repression and reassess diplomatic engagement with the Iranian regime.
Aerial footage showed crowds stretching across several city blocks, underlining the size and impact of the demonstration.
