Progress in Venezuela-U.S. Oil Negotiations, PDVSA Reports

The state-owned oil entity of Venezuela, PDVSA, has indicated that discussions regarding oil supplies with the United States are advancing, hinting at a potential evolution in energy dynamics between the two nations after years of friction and sanctions.

PDVSA reports that these conversations are grounded in commercial terms, akin to existing arrangements with various foreign partners. The company emphasizes any agreement must be lawful, transparent, and equitable, devoid of preferential treatment or political influence.

Interest in the talks surged following the U.S.'s announcement of plans to potentially acquire up to two billion dollars’ worth of Venezuelan crude oil, signifying an escalating focus on bolstering energy supplies amid a globally tight and volatile oil market.

Wills Rangel, a board member at PDVSA, asserted that Venezuelan oil will strictly be available at market prices.
