The United States has announced new sanctions against Iran in response to its April 13 strike on Israel. These sanctions target 16 individuals and entities, including a company involved in producing engines for the type of drones used in the attack. Among the entities sanctioned are subsidiaries of the Iranian automaker Bahman Group, accused of supporting Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, and customers of a steel company that generates billions of dollars in revenue for Iran annually. President Joe Biden emphasized the US commitment to Israel's security and stated that necessary action would be taken to hold those enabling or supporting Iran's attacks accountable.

Meanwhile, the UK government also announced its own sanctions against Tehran, targeting seven individuals and six companies for enabling Iran's destabilizing regional activities, including the attack on Israel. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak condemned Iran's actions as reckless and dangerous escalation, stating that the sanctions demonstrate unequivocal condemnation of such behavior and aim to limit Iran's ability to destabilize the region further.
In addition to targeting Iran's UAV program, the US sanctions also focus on companies providing parts for Iran's steel industry and an automaker providing material support to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen emphasized the use of economic tools to disrupt Iran's malign activities, including its UAV program and support for terrorism, stating that further actions would be taken in the days and weeks ahead.
