A California grandmother tragically died after a man jumped from a highway overpass and landed on her car's windshield. The incident occurred on August 9 on the 210 Freeway near Sylmar, California. Margarita Novela Galindo, 72, and her husband Florencio were en route for a weekend getaway when their lives were abruptly altered by this tragic event.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, emergency services received a distress call about a man threatening to jump from the Roxford Street overpass around 7 p.m. Shortly thereafter, the man executed his threat, falling directly into the path of the Galindos' vehicle.
The impact was catastrophic. The man crashed through the windshield and landed directly on Margarita, who was seated in the passenger seat. Her husband, who was driving, fortunately escaped with only minor injuries.

Margarita, a grandmother of seven, was hospitalized in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away on August 28, nearly three weeks after the accident.
The Galindo family has been left in profound grief. "It's incredibly unfair that her life was taken because someone else didn't want theirs," her son, David Galindo, wrote on a GoFundMe page set up to cover medical and funeral expenses. The family is struggling with the "what ifs" of the situation, contemplating whether a slight delay or detour could have prevented the tragedy. David expressed regret, wondering if stopping for gas or water could have changed the outcome.
Despite the immense personal loss, Florencio Galindo has expressed no bitterness toward the man responsible for the accident. “He doesn’t know what problems he may have had to commit suicide,” Stephanie Galindo, his daughter, relayed, translating her father’s sentiments from Spanish.
The incident has not only caused significant emotional distress to the Galindo family but also sparked broader discussions about mental health and highway safety.
