A 33-year-old woman of Indian origin faces charges of murdering her 10-year-old daughter, discovered deceased at their residence in Rowley Regis, situated in England's West Midlands region. Identified as Jaskirat Kaur, also known as Jasmine Kang, she was apprehended at the family home where her daughter, Shay Kang, was found. Kaur appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday for proceedings related to the tragic incident.
West Midlands Police disclosed that the girl sustained injuries at their home, leading to her untimely demise on Monday. The authorities have maintained a cordon around the property on Robin Close as they await the results of a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. Despite ongoing investigations, police have asserted that they are not actively seeking additional suspects in connection with the case, suggesting a focused inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Shay's death.
Described as a "bright, happy, and fun-loving child" by her school, Brickhouse Primary School, Shay's untimely passing has deeply impacted the local community. In response to the tragedy, the school has initiated support services for both students and staff members grappling with the loss. Meanwhile, residents have expressed their condolences by leaving floral tributes, cards, and balloons near the scene of the incident, reflecting the community's solidarity in mourning Shay's passing.
In a gesture of support, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist with Shay's funeral expenses. The initiative, which has garnered significant contributions, aims to ensure that Shay receives a dignified farewell, emphasizing her innocence and the profound loss experienced by her loved ones. The outpouring of generosity underscores the community's collective grief and determination to honor Shay's memory in a meaningful manner.
