These guidelines were made after studying the best medical information from around the world. They also looked at the needs of people with MS in the UAE and the differences in health coverage. The main goal is to make sure that many people with MS get the right treatment. These guidelines also explain how to treat MS during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and for children.
Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi, Vice Chair of NMSS, said that these guidelines will bring hope to both newly diagnosed people and those who already have MS. She said these guidelines are the first ones of their kind in the UAE and will help doctors choose the best treatments for their patients. They will also help make treatments more effective and cause fewer side effects.
The guidelines were created with help from health authorities and doctors from across the UAE. Dr. Ahmed Shatila, a neurologist and head of NMSS Medical Advisory Committee, said that these guidelines will improve the healthcare for MS patients in the UAE. They use the latest research to give better care.
Along with these guidelines, NMSS also started the first MS Helpline in the UAE. This helpline will help people with MS find information, doctors, and support. People can call the helpline every day from 10 AM to 10 PM at 800 677.
The new MS treatment guidelines were published in the "Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders" journal. This is an important step for treating MS in the UAE, and it will help ensure that people with MS get the best care possible.
