The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been chosen to be the leader of a new team in INTERPOL, which is the world’s biggest police group.
This team is called the Committee on Governance. It helps INTERPOL make better rules and plans for the future. The team gives advice on how the group should work and how to make things fair and clear.

The UAE’s Ministry of Interior joined a vote at INTERPOL’s office in Lyon, France. The UAE won the vote and got 67% support from other countries. This means most countries agreed the UAE should lead.
Lieutenant Colonel Dana Humaid Al Marzouqi, who works in the Ministry, will speak for the UAE in this team. She is in charge of international affairs at the Ministry.
This new team was officially started last year during a big meeting in Glasgow. Before that, it was just a working group. Now it is a full-time team.
This is the first time any country has been chosen to lead this group, and the UAE is proud to do it. It shows that the UAE is becoming an important country in world safety and teamwork.
The UAE will lead the group for two years. During this time, it will help make better rules, work with other countries, and report to INTERPOL’s main office.
