UAE President Engages with World Leaders at the BRICS Summit 2023

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan actively engaged in pivotal discussions with global leaders at the 16th BRICS Summit, held in Kazan, Russia, from October 22 to 24. The summit brought together prominent figures, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, Chinese President Xi Jinping, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali.

During these high-level talks, His Highness emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation across various sectors, particularly in economic, trade, and developmental initiatives. The summit, themed “Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security,” aimed to reinforce BRICS solidarity and collaboration among member nations.

A significant outcome of the summit was the Kazan Declaration, which reiterated the commitment to essential reforms within the World Trade Organization (WTO). Leaders emphasized the need for these reforms to bolster the WTO's resilience and inclusivity, ensuring it better serves the interests of all member states.

The leaders also addressed critical global issues, expressing robust support for Palestine’s bid for full United Nations membership. They advocated for a two-state solution grounded in international law, highlighting the necessity for peaceful coexistence. Additionally, the summit participants voiced profound concern regarding the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly in Gaza and the West Bank. They called for immediate and uninterrupted humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the crisis.

The discussions and agreements reached at the BRICS Summit underscore the commitment of member nations to collaborate on vital global challenges, reaffirming their dedication to multilateralism and shared development goals.
