UAE Offers 4 Services for Violator Status, Exempts Fines During Grace Period

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has introduced a new initiative to address the status of workers with violations and provide relief to establishments through a two-month grace period. This initiative, running from September 1 to October 31, 2024, is designed to assist individuals and organizations affected by violations that occurred before September 1, 2024.

Under the slogan "Towards a Safer Society," this initiative is a collaborative effort with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security. It targets those who have violations on their records, including expired work or residency permits and work abandonment complaints.

The services being offered include the issuance, renewal, and cancellation of work permits, along with processing work abandonment complaints. These services are available to both individuals affiliated with establishments and domestic workers who are eligible for the status settlement grace period.

Additionally, establishments that have failed to provide the Ministry with employment contracts or renew work permits can apply for exemptions from administrative fines incurred due to these lapses.

Applications for status settlement can be submitted through MoHRE's official website (mohre.gov.ae), the MOHRE mobile app (available on Apple and Google Play stores), and at business service centers and domestic workers services centers.

The Ministry has assured that applications will be processed efficiently and promptly, with services available around-the-clock to facilitate a smooth and flexible process. In an effort to streamline operations and reduce bureaucratic hurdles, MoHRE has integrated its services and removed unnecessary documents and procedures, aiming to offer a more convenient experience for its customers.

MoHRE encourages both violating workers and employers to utilize this grace period to rectify their status, allowing workers to either continue their employment legally or depart the country without facing financial penalties. This initiative reflects the UAE's commitment to tolerance, compassion, and social cohesion, providing a valuable opportunity for individuals and establishments to align with legal requirements and continue their presence in the country.
