The new services include the issuance, renewal, and cancellation of work permits, as well as the management of work abandonment complaints. These services are available to individuals seeking to regularize their status under the amnesty, including those with expired work or residency permits, and individuals involved in disputes over work abandonment, whether employed in businesses or as domestic workers.
Businesses are also provided with the opportunity to apply for exemptions from fines related to failures such as not providing employment contracts or not renewing work permits on time.
Applications for status correction can be submitted through multiple channels: the Ministry's official website, the MOHRE mobile app, and at designated service centers for businesses and domestic workers.
The visa amnesty programme, which commenced on September 1, allows a two-month grace period until the end of October for individuals to correct their visa status or leave the UAE. The Ministry has encouraged both employees and employers to utilize this amnesty to address and resolve any issues related to visa and work permit statuses.
During this period, workers who are in violation of their visa conditions have the option to either rectify their status and continue their employment in the UAE or leave the country without facing legal or financial penalties. The Ministry's initiatives are aimed at facilitating a smoother resolution process for those affected by visa and employment issues.
