On Monday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, announced comprehensive plans to enhance healthcare services for women, drive the UAE's transition to clean energy, and prioritize food and water security.
Under the National Policy for Improving Women's Health, the Emirates aims to reduce cancer-related deaths to 23.24 per 100,000 women and lower the overall mortality rate for females to 62.77 per 100,000. The UAE is committed to addressing health issues arising from unhealthy lifestyles among women, targeting a three percent reduction in medical issues such as obesity and lack of physical exercise.
During the UAE Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed, also the Vice President, outlined the ambitious blueprint for the future. The initiative involves collaboration between the public and private sectors to elevate healthcare standards and advance medical research.
“We approved the ‘National Policy for Improving Women’s Health’ in the UAE, to ensure providing the highest healthcare services quality for women, whether curative, preventive or rehabilitative services," Sheikh Mohamed stated.
The Cabinet also endorsed the launch of the Supreme Policy for Science, Technology, and Innovation, focusing on energy transition, health, food security, water security, technology, cybersecurity, and manufacturing. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that investing in research and development programs would contribute to GDP growth and create opportunities for future generations.
Additionally, the Cabinet adopted a new system to assess the effectiveness of government-introduced laws. Sheikh Mohammed explained the law enforcement indicator, designed to evaluate the impact of laws on investors, citizens, residents, or specific groups. The aim is to update laws as needed, ensuring equal application and maintaining the UAE's global approach, transparency, and commitment to the rule of law.
To boost transparency further, the Cabinet launched an online database featuring all legislation, federal decrees, executive regulations, and federal executive decisions since the UAE's formation in 1971. Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that the platform encourages public participation, allowing specialists and experts to provide input on existing legislation and actively contribute to the legislative drafting process. The goal is to promote government transparency, engage various segments of society, and uphold the UAE's legislative environment among the best globally.
