The deceased's family, with a heavy heart, consented to organ donation through the National Centre for Regulating Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues. Fatima was overwhelmed with gratitude for the selfless decision of the donor's family.

Having battled liver cirrhosis and cancer for two years, Fatima underwent a liver transplantation at Burjeel Medical City, becoming the first patient to undergo such a procedure at the facility. Despite initial apprehensions about the surgery's risks and implications, Fatima was reassured by Dr. Rehan Saif, the director of the Burjeel Abdominal Multi-Organ Transplant Programme, who explained the necessity and success rate of the procedure.

Dr. Saif and his team embarked on the challenging surgery, which was complicated by the severity of Fatima's condition, including portal hypertension, posing a risk of severe bleeding during liver removal. However, the surgery was successfully completed with minimal blood loss, and Fatima received a healthy functioning liver graft.
