The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has successfully facilitated another prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine, resulting in the release of 190 individuals. This recent swap brings the total number of prisoners exchanged through UAE mediation efforts to an impressive 2,184 since the initiative commenced.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to both Russia and Ukraine for their cooperation, which made this exchange possible despite the ongoing hostilities between the two nations. The Ministry emphasized that this exchange marks the ninth successful mediation effort since the start of 2024, highlighting the UAE's strong and amicable relations with both countries.

In its statement, the Ministry reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to continuing its diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict. It stressed the importance of dialogue and de-escalation as essential components for lasting peace in the region.
Since the beginning of the year, the UAE has played a pivotal role in facilitating eight exchanges of war captives between Russia and Ukraine. Additionally, it previously brokered a prisoner swap between the United States and Russia in December 2022, further underscoring the UAE's diplomatic influence and commitment to international humanitarian efforts. The UAE's actions reflect its ongoing role as a mediator in global conflicts, seeking to foster dialogue and cooperation in pursuit of peace.
