Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have issued warnings as heavy rains, hail, and thunderstorms swept through the region, prompting concerns about safety and disruptions to daily life. With large parts of the UAE experiencing torrential rain, schools have shifted to online classes, and government employees have been advised to work from home as a precautionary measure.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued alerts for residents of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, advising them to prepare for unsettled weather conditions over the next 48 hours. Heavy rainfall is expected in these areas until Wednesday, as reported by Khaleej Times. Ahmed Habib, an expert from the National Centre of Meteorology, highlighted the possibility of hailstorms in key areas like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.

Residents have been urged to take precautions such as parking vehicles in safe and elevated locations away from flood-prone areas. The adverse weather conditions have led to flooding on several roads and disruptions in transportation services, including flight cancellations and delays at Dubai International Airport. The Dubai Tram service was also affected, leading to disruptions in public transportation.
Traffic disruptions have been reported across various regions due to road cave-ins caused by heavy rains. Additionally, the UAE Football Association announced the cancellation of all matches in local competitions scheduled for Tuesday due to the severe storms.
In response to the weather forecast, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, announced the transition to distance learning for private schools in Dubai and remote work for government departments. Other Gulf countries, including Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, have also been impacted by storms, with reports of flooding and disruptions to daily life.
Oman, in particular, has experienced deadly flooding, resulting in casualties and emergency rescue operations. Authorities in Oman and the UAE have issued alerts for residents to exercise caution, especially motorists, due to the risk of heavy rainfall, waterlogging, and potential landslides in mountainous regions.
As a precautionary measure, the Ras Al Khaimah Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Team has implemented remote learning for schools and temporarily closed parks and beaches until further notice. These measures aim to ensure the safety of residents and mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions on public infrastructure and transportation systems.
