The UAE security forces have concluded a major investigation into an illicit operation involving the attempted transfer of military equipment to the Port Sudan Authority through UAE territory. The members of the cell arrested in connection with the case are now expected to be referred to trial.

The investigation began following the arrest of the suspects on April 30. Authorities revealed that the cell was engaged in the illegal trafficking of military equipment and money laundering. Their operations included covert brokerage, mediation, and the collection of undisclosed commissions through hidden channels.

Investigations further uncovered that the accused had conducted transactions with Sudanese military authorities, including senior officers, officials, politicians, and businessmen. The probe also revealed connections with individuals and companies listed on US sanctions lists and by Interpol.

The transactions were reportedly carried out at the request of the Sudanese Armed Forces’ Armament Committee, chaired by Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and his deputy Yasser Al-Atta. Coordination was facilitated by Othman Al-Zubair, the financial official of the Port Sudan Authority.

Officials noted that the investigation unveiled critical details regarding the funding sources of the military equipment deals. Substantial evidence was collected, including audio and video recordings, communication exchanges between cell members, contracts, financial records, and detailed statements outlining the execution and fund transfers. Technical committee reports indicated that part of the funding flowed through a bank operating in the UAE.

The State Security Prosecution confirmed that the accused will be referred to trial in line with the UAE’s commitment to justice, transparency, and national security. Authorities emphasized that the swift detection and investigation of the case highlight the UAE’s vigilance against illegal arms transfers and financial crimes.

This case underscores the UAE’s zero-tolerance approach to illicit military dealings, money laundering, and activities that threaten regional stability, sending a clear message about the country’s commitment to upholding law and order.
