UAE Cabinet, Led by Mohammed bin Rashid, Advances Genome Council and AI Ethical Charter

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, chaired the UAE Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi. The session was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court; H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance; and H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of the Interior.

During the meeting, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum highlighted the achievements of the Emirates Genome Council, which has collected over 600,000 genetic samples from across the country. These samples will aid in mapping genetic and hereditary diseases, enabling the development of targeted treatments. Moreover, an experimental premarital screening program covering all genetic diseases is set to be launched soon.

In line with advancing the digital economy, the Cabinet approved the General Framework for Sustainable Digital Transformation. This framework integrates sustainability principles into government digital initiatives, promoting a sustainable future. Additionally, the Cabinet endorsed the Ethical Charter of Development and Use of AI, outlining principles for responsible AI deployment.

Legislative matters were also addressed, with the approval of a federal law on road traffic, which includes regulations for vehicle classification and the use of modern technologies. The Cabinet also ratified agreements with Kazakhstan, Kenya, Costa Rica, Mauritius, Congo Brazzaville, and the Sultanate of Oman, fostering economic partnerships and collaboration.

Moreover, the Cabinet discussed the achievements of the UAE Council for Climate Action, highlighting key projects such as the National Climate Neutrality Strategy 2050 and the Low Carbon Development Strategy.

In healthcare, the Emirates Genome Council's strides in advancing precision medicine through genetic sequencing were commended. The program aims to support healthcare professionals in providing personalized treatments, enhancing healthcare outcomes for future generations.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the formation of a working team to enhance the role of the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry in bolstering the economy. This initiative aims to facilitate market access, foster partnerships, and enable local companies to compete globally.

The UAE's commitment to international cooperation was reiterated through its adoption of the International Code for the Protection of Tourists, aimed at restoring confidence and accelerating tourism recovery post-pandemic. Additionally, the UAE's participation in the BRICS financial track demonstrates its dedication to global economic collaboration.

Overall, the Cabinet's decisions reflect the UAE's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and international cooperation across various sectors, paving the way for continued progress and development.
