In a significant step to boost international justice cooperation, Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, UAE Minister of Justice, met with Carlo Nordio, Italy’s Minister of Justice, in Rome to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and advancing collaboration in the judicial sector.
During their meeting, both ministers emphasised the importance of enhancing cooperation in key areas such as extradition, mutual legal assistance, and combating transnational organised crime. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to upholding justice and maintaining a strong framework to address global criminal challenges.
The discussions also focused on the fight against financial crimes, including money laundering and the misuse of virtual assets. The ministers highlighted the vital role of tracing, freezing, and confiscating criminal proceeds as part of efforts to dismantle international criminal networks. Both sides agreed to deepen coordination in asset recovery, financial investigations, and regulation of digital assets.
Reinforcing the value of long-term collaboration, the UAE and Italy agreed to hold regular meetings between their respective judicial authorities to exchange best practices, strengthen institutional cooperation, and ensure swift information sharing.
The two countries also expressed a mutual desire to expand cooperation beyond legal matters — into cultural and academic fields, encouraging exchange programs and joint research to enhance mutual understanding and professional development.
This meeting marked another milestone in the enduring partnership between the UAE and the Republic of Italy, reflecting their shared vision of promoting justice, security, and international cooperation.
