Two Discovered Dead in University of Colorado, Colorado Springs Dorm Room

Authorities in Colorado revealed that two individuals with gunshot wounds were discovered dead in a dorm room at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, prompting an investigation into what is being termed a homicide.

The Colorado Springs Police Department stated that the incident did not seem to be a murder-suicide, and both deaths are treated as homicides. Officials mentioned ongoing efforts to gather information and pledged to share updates as the investigation progresses.

University officials were notified of the shooting early in the morning on Friday, as stated by the Colorado Springs Police Department on their social media account. The police assured the community that there was no apparent ongoing threat.

The University confirmed that the campus lockdown, implemented after the incident, was lifted, but classes remained canceled for the remainder of the day.

Expressing sorrow, University Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet conveyed, "We are in shock as we process this tragic loss of two lives. My heart is broken for the victims of today's senseless violence."

While the coroner is set to determine the official cause and manner of death, the police emphasized their commitment to thoroughly investigate the case.

The authorities have not disclosed the identities of the victims. Governor Jared Polis expressed readiness to provide state support, stating, "I am closely monitoring the situation at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs campus
