While mass violent crime remains uncommon in China due to stringent firearms regulations, the country has witnessed a series of knife attacks in recent years. Last August, a tragic incident in Yunnan resulted in two fatalities and seven injuries when an individual with a history of mental illness embarked on a stabbing spree.

Similarly, the preceding month saw a devastating kindergarten stabbing in Guangdong province, claiming six lives and leaving one person wounded.
