Tutu Sousa Wins Artist of the Year at VIE Fashion Week Dubai

Post by : Dama Art Gallery

At this edition of VIE Fashion Week Dubai, a new category — Visual Arts — was introduced alongside Fashion.

The result: 17 artists of various nationalities exhibited their work, and at the end, Cape Verdean artist Tutu Sousa, represented by Dama Art Gallery under the curatorship of Cristina Bernardini, was declared the winner of the night, receiving the Artist of the Year Trophy for the 2025 edition.

Over the four days of the event, the artist and curator were present and showcased a collection of 8 acrylic paintings and 3 masks sculpted in wood, incorporating recycled materials such as glass beads, PET bottle caps, and other reused elements.

This participation aimed to present their work to Dubai’s select audience — and the public’s positive reception was clearly evident.

To top it all off, two artworks were sold, others were reserved, and new invitations to participate in upcoming events in Dubai were extended.

Dama Art Gallery, recognized for giving voice to art across the globe, expresses its gratitude for the opportunity to have its artist gain strong visibility in Dubai's art market.
