US President-elect Donald Trump has announced plans to overhaul America's educational system, specifically targeting what he describes as "radical Left" accreditors. According to Trump, these accreditors have allowed colleges and universities to become dominated by what he terms "Marxists, maniacs, and lunatics."

In a statement made on Tuesday, Trump expressed his belief that America's higher education system has strayed too far from traditional values, becoming a breeding ground for what he sees as radical ideologies. Trump vowed that upon taking office in January 2025, he will take immediate action to fire these accreditors and replace them with new officials who will impose stricter standards on educational institutions.

Trump's vision for the overhaul includes defending American traditions, promoting Western civilization, and prioritizing free speech. He also emphasized the need to eliminate "wasteful administrative positions" that contribute to rising tuition fees. Trump further criticized the growing influence of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, which he believes have led to the proliferation of what he calls "Marxist" bureaucracies within universities. His administration will, according to his statements, remove such positions and work to provide more affordable education options.

Trump also proposed implementing accelerated degree programs that are cost-effective and designed to get students into the workforce more quickly. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that students are actually learning by introducing college entrance and exit exams. This would, in his view, allow students to demonstrate the skills and knowledge they have acquired during their time in higher education.

One of the key elements of Trump's plan is to address racial discrimination within schools. He outlined his intent to direct the Department of Justice to pursue federal civil rights cases against institutions that engage in such practices. Additionally, Trump stated that institutions found guilty of racial discrimination, particularly under the guise of "equity," could face severe financial penalties, including fines equal to their entire endowment.

Trump's educational reform proposal also includes plans to abolish the Department of Education. Under his Agenda47, Trump is advocating for the defunding of schools that teach critical race theory or promote what he describes as "transgender insanity." Furthermore, he has expressed a desire to credential teachers who are aligned with what he refers to as "patriotic values" and who support "the American Way of Life."

This educational overhaul plan comes amid growing concerns over campus unrest, particularly related to pro-Palestine protests at prestigious universities like Harvard, New York University, and MIT. Trump's statements reflect his broader agenda of combating what he perceives as anti-American sentiment spreading within academic institutions.

With these bold proposals, Trump is setting the stage for what could be a significant shift in the way higher education is administered in the United States, signaling a future clash over the direction of the nation's universities.
