Trump criticized Mamdani’s victory speech, calling it a “very angry” address and suggesting that the mayor-elect is off to a poor start if he does not show respect toward Washington. “If you want to see what congressional Democrats wish to do to America, just look at New York City, where their party installed a communist as mayor of the largest city in the nation,” Trump said.

Zohran Mamdani, 34, became the first immigrant to be elected mayor of New York, campaigning on promises to expand government-run programs funded by taxes on the wealthy.
