The MoU, signed by HCMLT Chairman Amr Mustafa and DPFZA Chairman Abou Baker Omar Hadi, outlines the joint efforts that both parties will undertake to support Djibouti's ambitious infrastructure goals. The projects covered under this agreement include the development of ports, road construction, the establishment of a logistics area, and the construction of new and renewable energy stations. The signing ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including Djibouti's Ambassador to Egypt, Ahmed Ali Berri, and Egypt’s Deputy Transport Minister, Nihad Shaheen.
During his speech at the ceremony, Minister Kamel el Wazir emphasized Egypt's strong commitment to supporting Djibouti in its infrastructure development efforts. He mentioned that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had directed the government to offer all possible assistance to Djibouti in the successful implementation of these projects. Minister el Wazir also highlighted the readiness of Egyptian companies, which have vast experience in executing large-scale infrastructure projects, to assist Djibouti in realizing its development plans. These companies have successfully carried out major projects not only in Egypt but also across other Arab and African countries.
In his remarks, DPFZA Chairman Abou Baker Omar Hadi expressed his admiration for Egypt's success in executing comprehensive infrastructure projects across various sectors, including land, rail, and maritime transport. He acknowledged Egypt's significant experience and expertise in these fields, which he believes will be invaluable in supporting Djibouti's efforts to modernize its infrastructure and boost economic development.
The MoU is a testament to the growing collaboration between Egypt and Djibouti, both of which are aiming to leverage their strategic geographical positions and strengthen their economic and industrial ties. By working together on critical infrastructure projects, the two countries are not only improving their domestic capabilities but also contributing to regional connectivity and development.
